Császár-Komjádi Sports pool

Business Details
The Béla Császár-Komjádi Sports Center is located in Budapest, Árpád fejedelem út. 8, II. district.

The Császár bath, which forms an integral part of the Császár-Komjád swimming pool, was built in the first half of the 19th century based on the plans of József Hild. The Veli Bej bath, built during the Turkish subjugation, was built in this place, which was presumably built by Szokullu Mustztafa, the begler beg of Buda. In the 18th century, the bath was already called Császár bath. In 1806, the royal councilor Károly Marczibányi bought the spa and then donated it to the Order of Mercy in Buda. The spa of the Császár bath was built in 1842, and the Veli bej bath was turned into one of the first steam baths in Budapest. In 1926, the competition pool of the Császár bath and its grandstand, which can accommodate a thousand people, are built. Also this year, the first European swimming, diving and water polo championships will be held in the spa.

In 1965, the Császár bath was transferred to the National Rheumatism and Spa Institute.

In the Császár-Komjádi Béla Sports Swimming Pool, there is a 50-meter sports swimming pool and a training pool in the indoor part, as well as two pools (50 and 25 meters) and a training pool in the outdoor part of the swimming pool. The 25-meter outdoor pool can be covered with a tent, so it can also be used in winter.

To this day, the swimming pool primarily provides training opportunities for athletes, and is also used for sports events (water polo, international swimming competitions). Swimming lessons for children and adults also take place in the swimming pool.

As is typical for Budapest spas, it is also mandatory to wear a swimming cap in the pools at the Béla Császár-Komjádi Sports Swimming Pool.
