Herb Garden (Budapest) - Fűvészkert

Business Details
At first, the garden bore the Latin name Hortus Botanicus , which is preserved in the title of its first seed exchange catalog published in 1788 (Index Horti Botanici Universitatis Hungaricae) , or it was called Botanikus Kert as the Hungarian equivalent of the Latin name. The word "botanical garden" is a synonym of the botanical garden from the era of language innovation , and it owes its existence and spread to Ferenc Molnár's well-known novel The Pál Street Boys .Since 1950, it has operated under the name ELTE Botanic Garden , then on June 30, 2008, based on the decision of the ELTE Senate, the official name of the garden is again the authentic Botanical Garden . However, Botanical Garden is used in official English formulations . It is the country's first botanical garden, founded by the Medical Faculty of the University, just like all over Europe. It was moved several times, either due to the relocation of the university (first in 1777 from Nagyszombat to Buda, then in 1784 to Pest), or due to lack of space. But its care was carried out by expert hands, as its leaders were among the outstanding personalities of Hungarian natural science .
