Lukács spa

In the area of ​​today's Császár and Lukács baths, the settlement of Felhévíz stood at the time of the conquest. According to historical sources, the XII. In the 19th century, healing knights (the Knights of St. John in 1178, later the Knights of Malta and Rhodes) settled here, and they built baths and hospitals next to their monasteries. According to contemporary legal documents, a Mill Lake existed in the area already in the Middle Ages. During the Turkish era, there were also baths in this place (the predecessor of today's Császár bath, the Veli-bej bath, as well as the bath called Barutháne/Barut degirmeni, i.e. next to the gunpowder mill), but the energy of the erupting source was primarily utilized in the production of gunpowder and grain milling. Their construction can be linked to the name of Szokullu Mustzafa Pasha, Begler Beg of Buda. The spa operating on the site of today's Lukács spa building was presumably a smaller warm water lake.
